Camarillo Metrolink Station

Expansion of an existing commuter rail train station to include new platforms, ticketing, lighting and parking. The selected artist, Viqui McCaslin, developed a large-scale tile mural for both sides of the platform including wide areas of sculptural low-relief tiles, as well as seating. The success of the project to date has led VCTC and the City of Camarillo to seek 1.2M in funding for public art for future phases of expansion. Phase 1 is scheduled for completion in mid-2002.

Chatsworth County Courthouse

Development of a public art component for the new courthouse facility in Chatsworth, north of Los Angeles. This project is a pilot project for the County which is considering the adoption of a ‘percent for art’ requirement. Los Angeles artists Michael Davis and Michael Amescua were selected through an invitational competition. The art is scheduled to be installed in April, 2002.

Clara Shortridge Foltz Memorial

Development of a permanent memorial celebrating the life and work of Clara Shortridge Foltz. The Los Angeles Criminal Courts Building is being renamed in her honor and as part of this recognition initiative the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has decided to commission an artist to create a unique work of public art for the building. Three artist finalists have been selected and are developing proposals: Judy Chicago, Antonio Tobias Mendez and Susan Schwartzenberg. The project is scheduled for completion in early 2003.

Development of a public art masterplan for the City of Plano, a community of approximately 250,000 just north of Dallas, Texas.

Seattle Central Library

Development of a comprehensive public art plan for the new Seattle Central Library building designed by Rem Koolhaas. Artists commissioned to date include Ann Hamilton, Gary Hill and Tony Oursler. The plan was adopted by the Library Board in December 2001 and is currently being implemented.
